Died on the Rocko vs Doug hill in 4th grade and I still think about it
Mrs. Patterson's class in Cincinnati had us pick one to draw for the hallway board in 1997, and I went Rocko while my best friend picked Doug, which turned into a two week cold war over who had better taste. Did anyone else's friend group split down the middle like that, or was it just my corner of Ohio?
That "two week cold war" thing hits home. In my experience, friend groups always found some dumb thing to split over. Ours was Sega vs Nintendo in maybe 5th grade, down to the point where we'd argue about which controller felt better in our hands. My buddy Ryan swore the Genesis pad was comfier and I told him he was nuts, and honestly neither of us knew what we were talking about. We made up over a shared bag of pizza Combos and moved on to arguing about something else the next week. Your mileage may vary, but I bet half those hallway board rivalries faded by recess.
