Why do air fryer recipes assume all models cook the same?

I followed a recipe for chicken thighs that said 20 minutes at 400F. In my air fryer, they were overcooked and dry. How do you adjust recipes for your specific machine?

Honestly you're onto something, those recipes are just regular oven instructions with a New Name. They always promise Perfectly Crispy food in half the time but my fries still come out sad. The whole thing feels like a marketing trick we all bought into.
