I finally picked the Ridgid over the Milwaukee for my gutted 737 interior job

I was stripping out a row of seats on a 737-800 last month and had to decide between my old Ridgid 18v impact driver or borrowing my coworker's Milwaukee M12 to pull all those track bolts. The Ridgid is heavier and beat up from years of use, but I know exactly how it handles torque without snapping the bolts off. The Milwaukee is compact and new, but I figured I'd stick with what I know on a time crunch. I went with the Ridgid and barely had one bolt strip out of the whole load of 44 seats. Not gonna lie though, the Milwaukee felt way better in my hand when I helped my buddy on his next job. Has anybody else stuck with an old tool you trust over a shiny new one and regretted it or loved the choice?

44 seats in a 737 is a lot of bolts to deal with, but it's really not that deep of a decision. You're acting like picking the Ridgid was some huge gamble when you already knew how it would act. I get that the Milwaukee is lighter and newer, but you said yourself it was a time crunch so why even think about switching then. It's just a impact driver for pulling bolts, not brain surgery. People get way too attached to their tools like they're some kind of magic wand or something. Honestly if you snapped a bolt you'd just drill it out and move on, it's not the end of the world.
