My shop foreman swore by using a dab of high-temp RTV on those tiny O-rings for bleed air duct clamps.

I thought it was a messy hack, but after it held for 3 years on a regional jet without a single leak report, I'm a convert. Anyone else use sealants in unconventional spots that actually work long-term?

Honestly, I've seen that go wrong more than it goes right. Tbh, that RTV can break down and make a real mess for the next guy who has to service that clamp. I had to clean a bunch of that baked-on gunk off a fuel line coupling once, took forever. Sometimes the old way, just a clean O-ring and proper torque, is the better fix.

My own messy RTV jobs make @casey_barnes's point look pretty good sometimes.
