PSA: logged my 500th annual inspection sign-off this morning on a 1978 Cessna 172N
I keep a little pocket notebook where I jot down every annual I sign off, mostly so I can remember which planes had what squawks. This morning I flipped back through it and counted 500 since I started keeping track back in 2019 at the shop in Wichita. The 500th one was a 1978 Cessna 172N, nothing special, just a beat up trainer with a worn out nose strut boot and a mag that needed timing. What got me was the number itself. I figured I was maybe at 300, tops. The notebook does not lie though. Most of those were boring, oil change, compression check, clean the plugs, sign the log. A handful were the kind where you find a cracked exhaust or a fuel line that was one flight from letting go, and those are the ones that stick with you. Anybody else keep a count like this, or am I the only one weird enough to track it?
