The hangar fan that almost took my hand off changed my whole routine

Last month at the Delta hangar in Atlanta, a gust caught the edge of a 60-inch floor fan and it tipped right toward me while I was changing a tire on a 737. I jumped back just in time, but it got me thinking about how we never secure those things before we start work. Now I always zip-tie the base to the toolbox before I even crack open a panel. Has anyone else had a close call with shop equipment that made you paranoid about stuff you used to ignore?
