Wireless sensors finally made sense to me after a 4 hour basement job
Ive been a hardcore hardwired guy since I started doing this in 2013. Ran cat5 through every crawlspace in the county, swore wireless was for lazy hacks. Then last Tuesday I had to run wire to a finished basement with drop ceilings that were actually glued to the joists. Took me 4 hours to get two zones done and I still had to patch a drywall seam I nicked. The homeowner had a spare wireless contact sitting on the shelf from a kit his brother bought. I threw it on in 10 minutes and it paired up clean. That moment kinda broke my brain. I still think hardwire is better for big commercial stuff, but for retrofits and finished spaces, wireless is just the smart call. The battery life on these new ones is like 5 years too. Am I late to the game on this or were other guys already mixing systems?

Shifting to wireless for finished basements is honestly just respecting the homeowner's ceiling and your own back, tbh.
