Guy at the estate sale in Red Deer called my 1970s banister a "death trap" and now I can't unsee it
Was poking around an estate sale off Gaetz Ave when an older fella pointed at the wood railing in the house and said flat out, "that there's a death trap, code don't allow that gap no more." Measured mine when I got home and sure enough it's about 6 inches between the spindles. Grew up in a house just like it and nobody thought twice back then. Now I'm staring at my stairs every day wondering if I should rip them out or just leave it be. Anyone else got an older place with this and what did you end up doing?
