Turns out I was measuring my basement windows wrong for 2 winters straight
So I live in an older place in Red Deer and every winter my basement was freezing and my bill would jump like $80 a month. I kept blaming the furnace and even had a guy come out to look at it. He walked around, then pointed at my windows and asked who measured them. I did, 2 years ago, with one of those cheap tape measures from the dollar store. Come to find out my tape had a bent hook so every window I did was about a quarter inch short. That gap was letting cold air in the whole time. I re-measured with a decent tape and got proper weather stripping and plastic film kits, and this past January my bill was only up $15. My wife still brings it up at dinner. Has anyone else had a tool fail on them in a way that cost way more than the tool?
