TIL my neighbor's xeriscape guy told me I was watering my gravel at 2pm
I bumped into my neighbor Ray while he was out raking his front yard last Saturday, and he asked why I was running my sprinklers at 2 in the afternoon in July. I told him I wanted the rocks to look clean, and he just shook his head and said most of that water never reaches the roots because of evaporation. He pointed at my dead patch of blue fescue and said I could cut my bill by half just by watering at 5am and putting drip lines on the shrubs. He also said the city has a rebate for turf removal, which I had no idea about. Has anyone here actually done the rebate paperwork, and how long did it take to get the check?
