I was tightening every compressor terminal till it squeaked and a callback finally showed me why that's bad
Had a fridge callback in Mesa last Tuesday, customer said it kept tripping the breaker a week after I swapped the start relay. I pulled the cover and one of my terminal nuts had crushed the ring connector down to almost nothing, plus the spade was loose enough to arc. A 30 year tech at the supply house asked me one question, do you torque or do you guess, and I realized I'd been going by feel my whole career. Ordered a small inch pound torque wrench that afternoon and I'm honestly not sure how many of my old jobs are sitting out there waiting to bite me. Any of you actually torque compressor and contactor terminals, or am I overthinking this one?
