My climbing line kept getting nicked by the same oak, so I switched to a friction saver and the wear basically vanished

I pulled my rope through the same red oak in Durham three times and kept seeing little fuzzy spots, then a buddy handed me his friction saver and after 6 climbs the line still looks new, so now I'm wondering if anyone else runs one on every prune job or just on big removals?
