He had 30 years on me and told me a flip line on a leaner just gets in the way, so I went without it and nearly ate it when a limb let go about 20 feet up. I keep replaying it. Was he right that flip lines are overkill on leaners, or did I just get lucky on a 60 foot white oak and should trust my gut next time?
