Bought a 50 cent tube of burnt sienna at a garage sale and it exploded all over my car
Picked up a ziploc bag of old oil paints at a garage sale in Fresno last Saturday for 2 bucks, and one tube of burnt sienna had a crack I didn't see. Halfway home I squeezed the bag to move it off my seat and the thing popped like a ketchup packet, spraying orange-brown goo across my backseat and my white sneakers. I pulled into a car wash on Blackstone and stood there for 20 minutes scrubbing with dish soap while a guy in a truck just watched me. The paint came out of the seats but my shoes are done and my car still smells like linseed oil. So now I want to know, do you all check old tubes before you swap, or is there a trick for spotting cracked ones I'm missing?
