I almost threw out 60 half-dried acrylic tubes, then a lady at the swap table in Tacoma changed my mind
I had a big ziplock bag of old acrylic paint from about 3 years ago and the tubes felt hard and lumpy, so I figured they were done and I was about to toss the whole bag in the trash. Before I did, I brought it to the art supply swap table at the Tacoma library on a Saturday and this woman named Dee showed me you can poke a hole in the crimp, add a few drops of water, and squeeze the usable stuff into those little 10 cent sauce cups with lids. It took me around 2 hours to do all 60 tubes, but I ended up with 14 cups of totally fine paint and barely any waste. I totally thought dried paint meant dead paint and now I feel dumb about all the tubes I tossed before. Has anyone else saved crusty old paint this way, or do some colors just not come back no matter what?
