My grandma's old paint box from 1998 is still the best swap I ever made
Back in high school around 1998, my grandma handed me her old wooden paint box full of half used oil tubes, and I traded most of them to a guy named Pete at a Saturday swap meet in Fresno for a set of watercolors. Last month I found that same box in my closet with three dried out tubes of burnt umber still stuck to the bottom. I posted them on the local buy nothing group and a retired art teacher picked them up for her students who can't afford supplies. She texted me a picture of a kid painting with that umber and it looked way better than anything I ever did with it. Does anyone else keep dried up old tubes just because they feel wrong to toss?
