My painting teacher in Phoenix swore cheap gesso was fine, and 6 months later my canvases are cracking
She told me to save money and skip the good stuff, so I primed 12 canvases with the $7 jug from the craft store. Now the paint is flaking off in little chips and I have to sand them all down, anyone got a primer under $20 that actually holds?

Liquitex basics worked for me after that exact disaster.
