A guy at the Des Moines home show showed me my sump pump float was stuck open, and my electric bill dropped $40 in a month
I always figured a sump pump either works or it doesn't, so when mine kept running in dry weather I ignored it. A guy at the Des Moines home show in March told me a stuck float makes the pump cycle every few minutes and that most people never check it. I pulled the lid off, freed the float with my hand, and my next two bills were $41 and $38 lower. How often do you all actually test your float, or is everyone just waiting until the basement floods?
