Showerthought: the week my $9 Walmart umbrella outlasted my $40 one and I'm still confused
Last week was a weird one, weather wise. I bought a cheap $9 umbrella at the Walmart on Elston in Chicago back in March just to keep in the car, and I finally used it hard during that stretch of rain we got Monday through Thursday. Meanwhile my "nice" $40 one that I got for my birthday snapped a rib on day two and now it flops around like a sad flag. I also had a flat tire Tuesday morning in the rain, which was just the cherry on top, and the guy at the tire place on Lawrence charged me $25 and gave me a coffee while I waited. Then Friday it cleared up and I walked to get lunch without a cloud in the sky, which almost made up for the whole mess. The cheap umbrella is still going strong and the fancy one is in the trash, which makes no sense to me. Has anyone else had a cheap thing just outlast everything you paid real money for? I'm starting to think I've been doing shopping backwards my whole life.
