My tripod mount cracked 20 minutes into the Perseids and I used a bungee cord
Last weekend I hauled my rig out to a field past the edge of town for the Perseids and the cheap plastic mount on my tracker cracked clean through about 20 minutes in. I ended up lashing the camera to the tripod head with a bungee cord from my trunk and got 40 minutes of frames before clouds rolled in, all slightly crooked. Did I just get unlucky with that mount or is plastic a bad idea for cold nights in general?
