TIL the city has a free app that shows every pothole report and road repair in Atlanta
I was killing time last week waiting on a client in Decatur and a neighbor told me about ATL311, which I always figured was just a phone number for griping about trash pickup. Turns out the app shows a live map of every pothole, street light, and road issue that's been reported, plus whether crews have closed it out. I looked up my own street and saw a pothole near the corner of Ponce and Clifton that I've been dodging since spring was actually reported 4 times and marked resolved twice, which explains why it keeps coming back. What got me is there's a spot to attach photos and exact location, and people who do that seem to get faster turnaround than the folks who just call it in. A guy in my neighborhood said a street light on his block got fixed in 3 days after he sent a photo through the app. I had no idea the reports were public like that, so now I check it before I bother calling. Has anyone here actually gotten a ticket closed out through the app, and did the pothole stay patched longer than a month?
