Watched a guy skip the test drive on a trade-in at an auction in Phoenix and eat a $900 repair
I was at a dealer auction in Phoenix two weeks ago and saw a young guy buy a 2016 Civic without even starting it. He flipped it to a lot down the street and the timing chain let go 40 miles later, so he ate the $900 fix on a car he made $300 on. I started doing a 5 minute walkaround and a scan tool check on every trade-in after that, even the clean looking ones. What is the one check you never skip when you're buying blind?
