Your thoughts on torque-to-yield bolts vs. reusing old head bolts?
I was flipping through a service manual last night for a 2016 Jetta and it says the head bolts are torque-to-yield, use once and toss. My old mentor in Cleveland told me for 30 years that was just dealer talk to sell more parts. I get that the bolts stretch and might not clamp right the second time, but a set of new bolts runs $60 to $90 depending on the motor. So where do you all land, do you always swap them or do you get a second torque out of the old ones? Curious if anyone has actually measured stretch or run into a comeback from reusing them.
