Am I the only one who switched from checking water sources on paper maps to calling ranger stations before a trip?
Used to plan every Sierra route by trusting the little blue creek dots on my map, then got burned on the Bear Creek trail near Courtright in August when 2 of 3 marked sources were bone dry. Now I call the ranger district a week out and ask them straight up what still has water, so what's your go to move for dry stretches in the high country?
