Snapping twigs to mark trails and the guilt that followed

Back then, it was normal to bend branches so others could find the path. Seeing regrowth now, I realize how much we altered the place... still, part of me misses that sense of community guidance.

Yeah, it's funny how most useful things start with someone changing something for practical reasons. You see it all the time, from worn-in paths to how everyone uses a tool.

My buddy Mike accidentally used a crescent wrench to fix his sink once, and now that's the only way he'll do it. Honestly, it works better for him than the proper tool ever did. Just one of those things that sticks.
