Spent $85 on a foam sleeping pad in Bozeman and it popped night one, so I slept on pinecones
Picked up a cheap foam pad at a shop in Bozeman last June before a 3 night loop in the Gallatin Range, figured $85 was a fair middle ground. Night one I set up on a flat spot near a creek and by 2am I could feel every root and rock poking through, the thing had basically flattened out. Turns out it was rated for like 2 nights of use and I was on night 3 of a trip. Slept on my rain jacket and a pile of pine needles the last two nights, which honestly worked better. Anyone got a pad under $150 that actually survives a full season of rocky ground?
