I finally gave up on my phone app for finding planets, and a $3 planisphere changed my whole setup
Two weeks ago I was standing in my yard in Reno squinting at my phone trying to find Jupiter and the screen kept flipping to some ad. My neighbor Gary came over with a cardboard planisphere he got for $3 at a planetarium gift shop back in 2019 and had it pointed at the right spot in about 20 seconds. I always figured paper star wheels were for old guys who hate tech, but the app was washed out by my own porch light anyway and the paper one doesn't care about that. Been using it three nights this week and I found Saturn and the Andromeda smudge without fighting my brightness settings once. Anyone else keep a planisphere in their pocket even with all the apps out there?
