So I tried to use my kid's toy compass for star alignment last night

I mean, it pointed to magnetic north, not true north, so my whole sky map was off. Maybe it's just me but I should've checked that first.

This compass thing @kelly_perez41 mentions shows a common flaw in trusted tools. We rely on gadgets and guides that are often a little off, but we pretend they're exact. Then we wonder why we end up in the wrong place.

Just what we need, another thing that's almost right. Guess I'll stick to GPS until that betrays me too.
