Unpopular opinion: I was holding my phone wrong at the eyepiece for 8 months
I got a cheap 4.5 inch reflector back in March and I've been trying to see Saturn's rings since then with zero luck. Last Tuesday my neighbor's kid came over and asked why I hold the phone so far from the eyepiece, and he just centered his camera lens right against the rubber cup. He got the rings in about 10 seconds while I stood there feeling dumb. I had been hovering 2 or 3 inches away the whole time thinking autofocus would handle it. Is there a cheap phone mount that actually keeps the lens flat against the eyepiece, or do you just hold it by hand?
