Rant: picked a 2 dollar VHS over the 4K remaster for movie night

For our Bad Movie Night last Friday in Austin, I had to choose between a beat-up copy of "Troll 2" on VHS for 2 bucks and the new shiny Blu-ray remaster. I grabbed the tape because the tracking lines and hiss felt more authentic. Halfway through the popcorn scene, the tape jammed and we lost 10 minutes, but honestly the panic was funnier than the movie itself. Has anyone else paid extra to make a bad movie worse on purpose?

Oh man, I've been there! My friends and I had a "so bad it's good" night with a scratched copy of "The Room" on DVD and it froze right at the "You're tearing me apart" scene. We ended up doing a dramatic table read while someone tried to fix the disc. Honestly, the technical failures become part of the show, so you just gotta roll with it. If the tape jams again, grab a pencil and wind it back slowly, that trick saved our last viewing.
