I finally weighed my flour and my cookies stopped spreading flat

Noticed my Toll House cookies were coming out like pancakes 4 batches in a row until I put the flour on a scale and it read 6.2 oz instead of the 5 oz the recipe said. My scoop was packing it tight the whole time, has anyone else had their measuring cup totally fool them?
