My crooked cupcakes broke the ice at a stiff office party

I baked some vanilla cupcakes for a work event, and in my experience, frosting never goes on smoothly for me. They looked kind of wobbly and uneven when I set them out. People were quiet at first, but then someone made a joke about my 'abstract art' cupcakes, and everyone started chatting and trying them. Your mileage may vary, but they tasted fine, and it loosened up the whole room. Take this with a grain of salt, but a little baking mess can sometimes help more than a perfect dessert.
