The $85 digital scale that lied to me for 3 months

I bought this fancy Escali scale to weigh my brioche dough, figured it was worth it since I kept overproofing everything. Turns out it was drifting like 15 grams after 30 seconds, which made my hydration all wrong and I wasted a whole batch of croissants. My old $12 grocery store scale never did that. Is anyone else convinced that expensive gear is a trap, or did I just get a bad unit one time?
