And that's where a little trellising makes all the difference. I started staking mine early and pruning the suckers, and I went from getting maybe 20 per plant to hitting 45 on a good week. The real trick for me was cutting back the top when they hit about 5 feet tall so the plant put all its energy into the fruit instead of just growing taller. Also made sure to water at the base every day, not the leaves, and that stopped a lot of the splitting I used to get.
