PSA: That $12 moisture meter I grabbed on impulse is actually doing work
Honestly I thought those little moisture meters were just gimmicks you see at the checkout counter. But my balcony herbs kept dying no matter when I watered them. Picked up a cheap two prong one for $12 at the hardware store and turns out I was overwatering my basil by like double. Has anyone else found a tool that felt pointless but actually changed their balcony game?

Those moisture meters are worth their weight in gold once you figure out you don't know how to water plants. I killed three ferns before I grabbed one of those things and realized I was drowning them every single time. It's honestly embarrassing how long I went just guessing with my finger. Now I actually check before I water and my plants stopped dropping leaves left and right. Best twelve bucks I ever spent on the balcony no joke.

Goodness, my own basil was the exact same way. I finally bought a cheap meter after my third rosemary plant bit the dust on the same patio, and sure enough the soil was staying wet way longer than I thought. Now I just check the meter before I touch the watering can and my little tomato plant is actually producing fruit for the first time. It took the guesswork out completely, which I needed way more than I realized.
