TIL my balcony tomato plant snapped in half during that windstorm in Denver last Tuesday
I had it staked with a bamboo pole from the dollar store and the whole stem folded right at the base, so I snipped the top and stuck it in a cup of water on a whim. Has anyone actually gotten a broken tomato stem to root, or am I just wasting counter space?
Rooting a tomato in water works sometimes but it takes forever and half the time the thing just rots. Denver wind is no joke though, I've lost whole plants to that stuff. Might as well leave it in the cup and see what happens, worst case you're out a few inches of counter space.
