Used to spend $20 a month on retro game lots at flea markets, now I just camp the free section on Craigslist
Five years ago I was hitting the Rose Bowl swap meet every second Sunday and dropping $20 to $40 on cardboard boxes full of loose carts, most of which I never played. Now I sit at home with a coffee and refresh the free stuff section on Craigslist and OfferUp, and honestly I pull better games that way. Last month a guy in Pasadena listed a milk crate of PS2 stuff for free just because he was moving out that weekend, and I got Silent Hill 2 and a working slim console out of it. The catch is you have to be fast, like reply within ten minutes fast, because free game listings vanish quick. Also about half the time the person ghosts you or someone else got there first, which is annoying but whatever. Curious if anyone else has switched from hunting in person to just watching the free listings, or is that just a me thing?
