Debate: Does a dual monitor setup actually help productivity or just distract you more?

Got told by an IT guy at work that spreading across two screens cuts focus time by 30 percent, but after switching to a single ultrawide last month I feel like I actually finish tasks faster so which side is right?

Hang on, isn't this the same debate we have with everything these days? People swear by the newest tool or setup like it's a magic fix, but half the time it's just a different way to have the same problem. I've noticed it with note-taking apps and even with how people organize their closets - we're always looking for the one perfect system instead of just picking something and sticking with it. Your ultrawide probably works because you committed to it and learned its quirks, while that IT guy might be quoting a study from ten years ago about a totally different type of work. Honestly, the real distraction is probably flipping between setups every few months trying to find the "right" one.

It's the same way with every hobby, people chase the perfect method hard enough to forget you just have to do the thing.
