Bought a $90 Park Tool bleed kit for my Shimano brakes and a $12 syringe did the same job
I grabbed the full kit at my local shop in Portland 8 months ago thinking the fancy funnel and fittings would save me time on every tune up, but I still have to burp the line by hand half the time anyway. The cheap syringe and hose setup a buddy lent me worked just as clean on a set of Deore brakes last weekend, and I'm out 90 bucks I could've put toward a nicer torque wrench. Anyone else got a tool they regret buying once they figured out the cheap version works fine?
I did the same thing with a Park Tool chain checker, the CC-3.2, dropped like 20 bucks on it and my buddy's $4 one from Amazon reads the same numbers. What really got me was the bleed kit too, because you end up using the same two fittings over and over and the rest of the box just sits there. That funnel top thing is nice until it isn't, and yeah you're still tapping the line and working bubbles out by hand no matter what. Ninety bucks stings when the cheap setup does the exact same thing on a set of Deores. Feel you on the torque wrench too, that's where the money should've gone.
