Pro tip: I was pumping my tires to 45 psi every morning and my old floor pump was lying to me
For about 8 months I was riding to my office in Sacramento with what felt like rock hard tires because the gauge on my $20 floor pump always read 45. A guy at the bike kitchen on 21st checked them with his own gauge and they were actually sitting at 28 psi the whole time, which is way too low for the skinny tires I run. That explains why I got 3 pinch flats in 6 weeks and kept blaming the glass on the trail. I grabbed a $12 standalone gauge and now I check before every ride. Anyone else get burned by a pump gauge that was off by that much?
