The old bike lane on 5th Ave vs the new protected one, night and day difference
Back in 2019 I used to ride down 5th Ave in Seattle every morning and it was pure chaos. Cars parked in the lane, doors swinging open, guys honking at me to get on the sidewalk. I nearly ate a taxi mirror three times in one week. Then they ripped it all out and put in that concrete barrier version with the green paint. Now it's like riding through a different city. Same distance, same hills, but I show up to work not sweating through my shirt from pure stress. The only issue is the leaf buildup in fall makes the green paint slick as hell. Anyone else notice that happens with the new lanes around town?
