My watchlist went from 40 shows to 3 in one month and here is what fixed it
I used to add every show anyone mentioned to my list and never watched half of them, so I was always scrolling for 20 minutes and giving up. Back in April I started a rule where I can only have 3 shows on the list at once, and a new one only goes on after I finish or drop one. I also made myself drop anything I was not hooked on by episode 3, which killed about 15 shows right away. It sounds dumb but I actually finished 6 seasons of stuff in May that had been sitting there for a year. How do you all decide when to bail on a show?
40 shows down to 3 is wild, but I felt that in my bones. My list hit 62 once and I told myself it was a "curated collection" like a museum, except the museum was just me scrolling past the same thumbnails every night for a year. My bail rule is the three episode thing too, but I add one: if I catch myself on my phone during an episode and missed nothing, it's done. The sad part is I've dropped shows I actually liked just because the pilot was slow, so my rule probably costs me a few good ones. What gets me is the shows I keep at episode 2 forever, like I'm saving them for a rainy day that never comes.
