Bought a cheap anvil off marketplace, lost $85 and a month of work

That beat-up anvil turned out to be cast iron with a soft face that dented on the first hardy tool I hit, so now I'm asking if anyone else got burned by those bargain anvils on Facebook before I shell out for a proper one.
