Bought the $180 tube roller attachment for my shop press and it paid for itself in one job
I do small boiler repair work out of a two bay shop in Dayton and had been rolling my own tubes by hand with a hammer and a flaring tool for way too long, which ate up about three hours on a 40 tube job and killed my shoulder. Last month I finally broke down and ordered the roller attachment for my 20 ton press, $180 shipped, and I was nervous it would just collect dust next to the other stuff I bought on a whim. First job after it showed up was a firetube swap on a little cleaver brooks, 38 tubes, and I had all of them rolled and beaded in under an hour with zero leaks on the hydro. I figured it would help but I did not expect it to be that much of a gap, honestly. Any of you guys still rolling by hand or is everyone on a roller setup now?
