Hit 50 species on my neighborhood plant walk and now my phone storage is crying
Found my 50th wildflower species on the bike path behind Maple Street last Tuesday, a tiny purple thing I still need to ID, and now I'm wondering if anyone else has a rule for when to stop taking photos before you fill up your whole phone, or should I just start a physical journal instead?

A physical journal is a terrible idea for a wildflower walk and here's why. You found that tiny purple thing on the bike path behind Maple Street and you need to know what it is right now, not in an hour when you get home and try to draw it from memory. A photo takes two seconds and captures the leaf shape, the stem, the exact shade of purple, all the stuff a sketch will lose. Phone storage is cheap, a 128 gig card costs less than twenty bucks and holds thousands of plant pics, so the idea that you need a rule to stop is just wrong. The people who actually get good at plant ID are the ones who take way too many photos and sort them out later, not the ones who carefully limit themselves. Fill up your phone, buy more space, and keep shooting.
