Showerthought: the guy who taught me to wet the brick first was right and everybody at the site keeps skipping it
Old foreman in Cleveland back in 2011 made me dunk every brick in a bucket before laying it. I thought it was a waste of time. But dry brick sucks the water right out of the mortar, and I see guys stack dry units all day and then wonder why the joint crumbles a month later. I know because I tore out a wall I built dry 3 years back and the mortar turned to powder in my hand. Anyone else still keep a bucket on the scaffold or am I the only one?
