Went with a 3/8 inch joint roller over a 1/2 inch on a 12 foot garden wall and I think I got it right
Had a small garden wall job in Naperville last month, about 12 feet long and 4 courses high, and I couldn't decide between a 3/8 or 1/2 inch joint roller for the finish. I went with the 3/8 since the block was a bit softer and I didn't want to dig in too deep, and honestly the joints came out cleaner than I expected. The homeowner came out twice to look at it and said it looked like the walls on the older houses on her street, which I took as a good sign. I'm still not sure it was the right call for this block though, since a couple of the joints look a little tight to me now that it's dry. Has anyone run both sizes on block like that and noticed a real difference in how the mortar tools up a day later?
