Debate: is a $12 rice cooker from Goodwill actually a "fancy" upgrade or just a cheap habit I'm defending?
I grabbed a $12 rice cooker at the Goodwill on Vine in Cincinnati three weeks ago because my stove rice kept coming out gummy, and I wanted that soft restaurant texture without paying $80 for a nicer machine. Now I'm stuck arguing with myself: one side says a cheap thrift cooker gets you perfect rice every time and frees up a burner, so why spend more, while the other side says it's a single-use counter hog and I should just practice the pot method. It did nail jasmine rice on the second try, and I've made it nine times since, but it takes up room I don't have. Which side would you take, cheap thrift gadget or one good pot and some practice?
