Can we talk about the guy in line at Aldi who paid for 3 weeks of groceries with a envelope of cash
I was behind this older guy at the Aldi on Tuesday and he pulled out a plain white envelope stuffed with bills and peeled off exactly what he needed. The cashier told him his total was $164.37 and he counted it out without even glancing at the card reader. He told her he pulls $180 out every payday and when the envelope is empty, that's it until the next one. I've been swiping my card for everything for so long that watching him physically run out of money felt like a gut punch. Does anyone else do the cash envelope thing, and how do you handle stuff like gas and online bills that you can't pay with paper?
