Just realized the guy at the lumber yard in Toledo was right about poplar for painted cabinets
I was standing in line at a yard in Toledo about 3 weeks ago and overheard an old guy tell a kid that poplar was a waste for painted face frames and he should just use maple. I've been building painted cabinets out of poplar for 6 years and never had a callback, so I almost said something, but then I started thinking about how many of my doors have that green streak that shows through after 2 coats. Am I the only one who thinks poplar is fine if you seal it right, or should I actually be switching to maple for anything getting paint?
